The Wichita Wolverines and starting pitcher Dennis Gates stifled the Madison offense en route to a comfortable 8-2 win at Howling Park. The Wolverines go to 49-38, putting them second in the Bob Moose League Jim Leyland Division.

Wichita right fielder Ernesto Andrade gave his club a productive at-bat in the bottom of the third inning. With the bases loaded and the Wolverines trailing 1-0, Andrade drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Wolverines manager Dave Moran.
