Wichita first baseman Willis Pierce had 4 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Madison Beehive, 7-4. Pedro Galló earned the save, his 25th. Wichita now sits at 48-37, while Madison falls to 30-57.

Pierce contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Wichita in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 2-0, Pierce took a fastball from Jerry Kennedy and stroked the home run to left. His 11th home run of the season allowed the Wolverines to leap in front, 3-2.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Pierce told the Wichita Times.
