Rats, Dye Pin Bad Loss on Bulldogs
|
The first-place Rock River Rats welcomed Spokane to The Rat Hole.
The Rock River Rats used an offensive barrage to beat the Spokane Bulldogs, 10-2, at The Rat Hole. Nick Dye led the way, going 2-for-3 for Rock River. Kang-il Hyong, the winner, improved to 10-4. He held Spokane to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while racking up 11 strikeouts. Josh Hunt locked down his 1st save.
Dye came through with some timely hitting for Rock River. With the score 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth and one down, Dye hit a 2-1 fastball for a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season made it 3-1, Rock River.
Spokane manager Chris Carpenter called the blowout loss "ugly."
The Rats, at 59-25, have a comfortable 15-game lead in their division.
