Not everyone stuck through the 37-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.

Madison shortstop Manny Serrantino made his presence felt in the 6-3 Beehive triumph over the Pacifica Shamrocks. Serrantino went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Bruce Patterson, the winner, improved to 3-9. He held the Shamrocks to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3.

A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning when the Beehive sent teenager Bartley Alroy to the plate against Shamrocks hurler Jimmy Hunter. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a 1-2 fastball to score 2.

"It feels good to get this one," Alroy told the Madison Herald.

The Beehive improved to 28-53.
