Byrd Plays Big Role in Brooklyn Win
Clarence Byrd pitched a gem in leading Brooklyn to a 2-1 victory over the New York Mafia. Ti-an Dan, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save. New York is in the throes of a 11-game losing streak.

Byrd worked his mojo for Brooklyn. The hard-throwing left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 8 innings of work.

"The want-to is there for our guys," said New York manager Roberto Campos. "We'll get this thing turned around."
