Aubry slugs 2 home runs to Power Jail Birds Offense
|
With designated hitter Anson Aubry leading the charge, the Newark Jail Birds defeated the Sandy Springs Spartans, 14-6, at Cobras Ballpark. Aubry went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 5. Newark currently is in last place in the Cory Lidle League Gene Mauch Division at 36-39.
Newark took a 9-6 lead on Aubry's 7th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Peng Zhi in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Newark to the win.
In postgame comments to the Newark Observer, Aubry said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
