Ducks Fall Short at Pacifica
The McCormick Field faithful were treated to an exciting walk-off win.

Pacifica withstood an impressive performance by Long Island left fielder Fernando Gutiérrez to defeat the Ducks, 6-5, at McCormick Field. Gutiérrez was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Pacifica reliever Jamie Newitt was the winner. His record is now 3-0. Miguel Hernández took the loss.

Late in the game, shortstop Vicente Ortega had a big at-bat for Pacifica. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single off Miguel Hernández. The play gave the Shamrocks a 6-5 lead.

"I like our resilience," said Ortega.

Pacifica is now 45-29, 2 games up in the Cory Lidle League Gene Mauch Division.
