Jacksonville rode a fine outing from starter Enrique Galván to victory over the Newark Jail Birds at Hellcats Park. The final score was 1-0. Jacksonville now sits in last place in the Cory Lidle League Lou Piniella League at 28-46.
The Hellcats got a lift from designated hitter Ze-dong Xun who had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the first inning off Ron Ogden. It was his 25th RBI of the season and put Jacksonville in front, 1-0.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Newark manager Johan Gillberry.
