Lights Squelch Tune-Ups Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Youngstown Tune-Ups went down to defeat to Mauro Rodríguez and his Phoenix teammates. The final score was 4-0 in favor of the Lights. The winning pitcher was Rodríguez, now 4-3. He tossed 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 3. The third-place Lights improved to 38-39.
The Lights beat the Tune-Ups in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Topan Alisjahbana produced in the bottom of the third. Batting against Youngstown pitcher Bruce Easton, Alisjahbana gave his team a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Rodríguez.
