|
The Newark Jail Birds got a good effort from starter Andy Schuman in defeating the Jacksonville Hellcats at Hellcats Park. The final score was 7-1. Schuman, now 6-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. After today's action, Newark sits at 34-38, while Jacksonville falls to 27-46.
In the top of the second, Steve Parker hit a run-scoring triple for Newark. The 3rd triple of the season for the Newark designated hitter put the Jail Birds on top, 1-0.
