Beetlecats Best Red Bulls in Pitching Duel
|
Fans who came to Bloomfield Road watched the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats and the Riverside Red Bulls fight to the finish.
Buzzard's Bay beat Riverside on the strength of starter Vincent Bethea's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 2-1 win. Mike Salter closed the door for Buzzard's Bay, picking up his 17th save of the year.
In the bottom of the first inning, left fielder Jesús Montero delivered a key hit for the Beetlecats. With Buzzard's Bay leading 1-0, he ripped a solo home run.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Tim Duncan.
The 5th-place Beetlecats have won 7 in a row.
