The Havana Stogies handed the Hawaii Islanders a sound defeat, 11-1, at The Humidor. Kohei Matsumoto was a main contributor to the win. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5 for Havana. Joe Hardy, the winner, improved to 6-2. He held the Islanders to no earned runs on 1 hit over 8 innings, while striking out 13 and walking 2. Havana is now 28-13.

In the bottom of the first inning, Havana got a break when Matsumoto went to the plate. With two outs, a runner on 1st and the Stogies leading 1-0, Matsumoto hit a 2-run home run.

Hawaii manager Leland Ray called the blowout loss "just something that happens from time to time."
