Storm Troopers Jolt Ducks with Late Rally
|
The Long Island Ducks got a sterling performance from left fielder Curtis Downing, but the Storm Troopers still prevailed, 7-4. Downing was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Earning his 15th save of the year was John Welch. San Antonio is now 26-44.
Late-game drama came in the top of the eighth inning. With two out and the bases loaded, San Antonio designated hitter Oscar Smith hit a 2-run single, helping his team get the win.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Smith told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
