Shamrocks Flatten Hellcats, 11-1

The Pacifica Shamrocks had no problem beating the Jacksonville Hellcats, 11-1, at McCormick Field. Ernie Horswill led the way. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for Pacifica. Pacifica starter Jimmy Hunter was credited with the win after throwing 96 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 8-4. The Hellcats, now 26-45, have lost 5 in a row.
Tied up with the Hellcats in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Shamrocks got a boost from second baseman Howard Jennings. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Jennings saw a 0-2 fastball from José Arredondo and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Pacifica on top, 2-1.
"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Jacksonville manager Pete Dellow. "We got flat-out beat."
