The Rubber City Rhinos got a strong performance from pitcher James Thompson, who stymied the Portland offense en route to a 5-2 win at Waterfront Park. The Beavers, now 18-23, have lost 4 in a row.

The Rhinos grabbed the lead in the top of the second. With two out, Oscar Costales, who is tied for 9th in the RCL in triples with 2, hit a 2-run home run off Michael Smith, putting Rubber City in front, 3-0. For Costales, it was his 1st home run of the season.

"I had a good game," said Costales. "Winning makes it even better."
