The Frisco Rams and Newark Jail Birds played a tight game at Outlander Park, with the hosts claiming the hard-fought win.
In a tight battle between the Frisco Rams and the Newark Jail Birds, pitcher Marvin Pole was in the zone. The Frisco right-hander was named the player of the game in Frisco's 3-1 win. Pole, now 3-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs.
Doing his part for Frisco was first baseman Toshio Matsuzaki, who stroked a double in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Matsuzaki did the little things right to help the team.
"Good win for us," said Pole. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
The second-place Rams raised their record to 40-31.
