Hackers Rally For Late Win Over Enforcers

Silicon Valley overcame a superlative game from Guo-quiang Zhào to beat Atlantic City, 3-2. The Atlantic City pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Silicon Valley reliever Britt Diaz was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Jim Unknown. Willie Fierro picked up the save, his 14th.
Runs were scarce in this one. So, John Berdahl's at-bat in the top of the ninth was vitally important. With two out, the Silicon Valley second baseman hit a 2-run home run, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Atlantic City skipper Juan Guerrero.
The 5th-place Hackers are now 29-39, the Enforcers 34-34.
