Ducks Fall to .500 After Loss to Snaps
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Cincinnati Snaps and the Long Island Ducks, Esteban Sánchez was the difference-maker. The Cincinnati right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-1 win. Sánchez, now 1-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 5, and allowing 1 earned run. The save went to Scott Ray, his 1st this season.
Iván Pérez had a nice at-bat for the Snaps with one out in the bottom of the fourth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, the catcher got hit by a pitch, which would prove important in the Cincinnati win.
"Not to be Captain Obvious," said Long Island manager Roger Fievet, "but we need to push more runs across the plate."
Long Island, at 34-34, has lost 5 straight.
