Wolverines Win Again, Streak Now at 10
|
Charlie Haydon was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Wichita and Topeka. The Wolverines right-hander was named the player of the game in Wichita's 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was Haydon, now 1-0. He tossed 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 7 and fanning 5. The first-place Predators have dropped 5 straight games.
The Wolverines got a big at-bat from second baseman Emile Sharman, who in the bottom of the fifth hit a 2-run single. It was his 23rd hit of the season and put the Wolverines on top, 2-1.
"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped Topeka manager Noriyori Shirai. "Obviously."
