Shamrocks Fall Short, 3-2, at Buzzard's Bay

The bats were silent much of the day at Bloomfield Road. But Toshikasu Okuda conjured up just enough offense to carry the Beetlecats past the Pacifica Shamrocks, 3-2. Okuda was 3-4 with a home run and a double. Mike Salter picked up the save for Buzzard's Bay, his 15th of the year. Buzzard's Bay, at 27-35, sits in last place in the Cory Lidle League Gene Mauch Division.
In a game filled with surprises, perhaps none was as big as Okuda's contribution. The Buzzard's Bay right fielder is a relative newcomer. With two out in the bottom of the seventh, when the Beetlecats had the bases empty, Okuda delivered a crucial solo home run.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Pacifica manager Joe Leftwich said following the tough loss.
