The Wichita Wolverines got a magnificent effort from pitcher Hisataka Matsumura, who kept Topeka hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Wolverines win at Howling Park. The current losing streak for Topeka has reached 4 games.

In the bottom of the 8th, shortstop Manny Gonzáles gave Wichita the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Wolverines had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out single off Topeka pitcher Tom Cluff changed that -- and Wichita went on to win.

"We'll keep riding this wave as long as we can," said Wolverines manager Dave Moran.
