Tune-Ups Throttle Hellcats, 5-1
|
Youngstown Tune-Ups starter Dominic Smith turned in a top-notch performance against the Jacksonville Hellcats at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum. The result was a win for the Tune-Ups, 5-1. The winning pitcher was Smith, now 5-2. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4. The Tune-Ups move to 36-27 with the win, while the Hellcats drop to 24-38.
The Tune-Ups got a big at-bat from second baseman José Martínez. For the game, Martínez went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 2nd double of the season gave Youngstown a 2-1 lead.
"Anyone who says he's not out there thinking about personal accomplishments is not telling the truth," Smith said later.
