Tune-Ups Squelch Red Bulls Offense in Shutout Win
|
A nice crowd turned out to see the Youngstown Tune-Ups and Riverside Red Bulls clash at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum.
Youngstown used a superb performance from starting pitcher Bruce Easton to down the Riverside Red Bulls, 5-0. Easton, now 4-4, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Rafael López, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and two out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when right fielder Evan Whitlock hit a run-scoring single. The Tune-Ups went on to win.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Tim Duncan.
Riverside's current losing streak has reached 5 games.
