Bulldogs Lose Late, 6-5
|
The New York Ninjas did just enough to sneak past the Spokane Bulldogs, 6-5, at Confucius Field. New York designated hitter Mutsuhito Yamamoto earned player of the game honors. Jim Unknown, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. New York has now won 3 straight, while the Bulldogs have lost 3 in a row.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 5-5, right fielder Logan Moran won it for New York. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Moran hit a 2-2 fastball from Martín Cantú for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 6-5 win.
"This place was rocking at the end," Moran said.
