Hackers Drop Hellcats, 5-3
|
The Silicon Valley Hackers topped the Jacksonville Hellcats by the score of 5-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to left fielder Keith Hawley. Hawley went 3-4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Hackers on the day. Silicon Valley reliever Remco Hassink picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-0. Enrique Galván was collared with the loss. Picking up the save was Willie Fierro, his 9th.
Hawley came through with some timely hitting for Silicon Valley. With the score 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth and two down, Hawley hit a first pitch slider for a 2-run double. His 12th double of the season made it 4-2, Silicon Valley.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Silicon Valley manager Bob Miller. "It's usually not just one thing."
Silicon Valley's record now stands at 24-32, placing them 5th in the Cory Lidle League Lou Piniella League.
