The Boise Hawks grabbed a 10-4 win over the Riverside Red Bulls at Red Bull Stadium. Boise first baseman Robert Mentzer was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times to earn player of the game honors. Domingo Trinidad was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 1 run on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Philippe Vincent was credited with the save for Boise, his 3rd of the season.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when left fielder Jesús Castillo, who is tied for 6th in the ACL with a .431 on-base percentage, hit a 2-run single. The Hawks went on to win.
"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Mentzer. "But I have better dreams after a win."
The Hawks now have a record of 25-27.
