Youngstown rode a fine outing from starter Dominic Smith to victory over the Silicon Valley Hackers at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum. The final score was 4-2. Koshiro Ohayashi finished to wrap up his 17th save. The third-place Tune-Ups have won 5 in a row.
Rich Gonzalez found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Silicon Valley hurler Britt Diaz, the 19-year-old second baseman hit a 2-run single. His 52nd hit of the season put the Tune-Ups on top, 4-2.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Gonzalez. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
