Cornhuskers Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Ninjas
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The DeKalb Cornhuskers trumped the New York Ninjas, 8-5, at The Corn Crib. DeKalb second baseman Antony Porter was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2-3 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times. DeKalb reliever Manny López got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Jorge López was tagged with the loss. Brian Lapointe recorded the save for DeKalb, his 1st of the season.
Kosaku Yasuda had a productive trip to the plate with two out in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run, helping DeKalb to the win.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Porter.
The Cornhuskers raised their record to 26-26.
