Red Bulls Take Down Storm Troopers, 6-1
|
The Riverside Red Bulls stymied the San Antonio Storm Troopers, 6-1, at Red Bull Stadium. Haruhiko Yamanaka, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Riverside. Lloyd Huggins, the winner, improved to 6-2. He held the Storm Troopers to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Riverside bumps their record to 33-18 with the win.
Juan Politti's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth inning was a big one for Riverside. Coming to bat with two out, the bases loaded and Riverside leading 2-1, the left fielder hit a run-scoring single.
"We've got a great group of guys," Yamanaka said, "and we're having fun right now."
