|
The Sandy Springs Spartans knocked off the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, 8-2, at Bloomfield Road. Pat Schmoll, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Sandy Springs won. The center fielder was 2-5 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Riley Goodall, credited with the win, is now 4-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. The last-place Spartans raised their record to 22-26.
In the top of the second, Brent Nordstrom hit a 2-run double for Sandy Springs. The 3rd double of the season for the Sandy Springs shortstop put the Spartans on top, 2-0.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Sandy Springs manager António Chávez.
