Bloomington got a terrific game from center fielder Arnold Layne. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Maple, 10-7. Layne was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Maple reliever Héctor Zúñiga picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Joseph Kelley took the loss. The Marauders improved to a lofty 27-11.

The most important at-bat for Maple came in the top of the 13th inning, when left fielder Angel Barajas stroked a 1-1 slider to right for a run-scoring single, putting Maple up, 8-7.

"It was terrific getting this win," Barajas said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
