Jail Birds Saddle Ducks with 8-2 Loss
|
The Newark Jail Birds and starting pitcher Jose Fernandez stifled the Long Island offense en route to a comfortable 8-2 win at Long Island Stadium. Newark has now won 3 straight, while the Ducks have lost 3 in a row.
With the bases empty and two out in the top of the third inning, shortstop António González delivered big for the Jail Birds. Newark was leading 1-0 when he belted a solo home run.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Johan Gillberry said.
