Cincinnati overcame a superlative game from Lloyd Huggins to beat Riverside, 2-1. The Riverside pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball. Sergio Rodríguez earned the save for Cincinnati, his 1st of the year. Cincinnati is now 21-27, Riverside 30-17.
The Snaps got a big boost from pinch hitter Yodo Nakashima who had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning off Red Bulls hurler Jay Retter. It was his 5th RBI of the season and put Cincinnati on top, 2-1.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Cincinnati manager Bryan Powell.
