Big Day by Costa Ignites Lights Win
|
A nice crowd turned out to see the Phoenix Lights and Newark Jail Birds clash at Cobras Ballpark.
The Phoenix Lights relied on the hitting of right fielder Ramón Costa to stop the Newark Jail Birds, 6-1. For the game, Costa was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. With the victory, the Lights record now stands at 24-23.
The Lights had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the seventh. The score was 3-0, Phoenix, with no one out. Newark, with runners on 1st and 3rd, was mounting a threat. Guillermo Urive dug in at the plate, but on a full count sinker, he struck out.
