Ducks Deal Cornhuskers Painful Loss

Starting pitcher Naoki Okada pitched well enough to help the Long Island Ducks beat the DeKalb Cornhuskers by the score of 4-3. Reliever Miguel Hernández picked up the win. His record improves to 3-0. Brian Lapointe took the loss. The second-place Ducks improved to 22-22.
Ken Cashmann had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the ninth. The Long Island first baseman came through with a run-scoring single to put Long Island in front, 4-3.
"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Cashmann said.
