Tune-Ups Get Close Win Over Hellcats
|
The 2032 season is getting ugly for Jacksonville.
Youngstown overcame a superlative game from Ed Benner to beat Jacksonville, 4-1. The Jacksonville pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball. Youngstown reliever Rafael López picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. Kawanari Uchida was collared with the loss.
Both teams had trouble scoring runs. So, José Martínez's at-bat in the top of the ninth was huge. With two out, the Youngstown second baseman hit a 3-run home run, to give his team a 4-1 lead.
"I try to not think too much," said Martínez.
The Tune-Ups now have a mark of 24-21.
