The Newark Jail Birds coasted to a win over the Marysville Monarchs, 10-3. Steve Parker had a good day at the plate for Newark. He went 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. At 17-24, the Jail Birds find themselves in last place in the Cory Lidle League Gene Mauch Division.
Newark catcher Dan Dionne helped the Jail Birds to the win. In the top of the first inning, the 29-year old catcher stroked a run-scoring single. For the game, Dionne went 3 for 5 with 3 singles.
"We'll savor this win," Parker told the Newark Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
