Islanders Defeat Aces, 7-1
|
Columbus had no answer for Hawaii Islanders starter Ehrich Weiss, who flummoxed Aces hitters as the Islanders cruised to a 7-1 victory. The Islanders raised their record to 21-15.
The Islanders got an important contribution from left fielder Declan Ringer, who in the top of the fourth punched a 2-0 fastball into center for a run-scoring single. It was his 38th hit of the season and put the Islanders ahead, 4-1.
Ringer described the clubhouse as "strangely calm" after the game.
