Beetlecats Beat Jail Birds, 5-1
|
Pitcher Qing-lai Juan was sensational for the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats in his team's 5-1 triumph over the Newark Jail Birds. Juan received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Juan, the winner, moves to 4-1. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 1 walk. Bernardino Pacheco closed the door for Buzzard's Bay, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Marcos Serrano contributed a big hit for the Beetlecats. With Buzzard's Bay leading 1-0, he hammered a 2-run home run.
In comments to the Buzzard's Bay Citizen, Juan insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
The Beetlecats improved to 21-15.
