Multi-HR Day for Ayliffe as Lights Overpower Shamrocks, 9-1
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 23-year old catcher Virgil Ayliffe, the Phoenix Lights stopped the Pacifica Shamrocks, 9-1. Nicolas Dupuis picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 1 earned run on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 1. On the season, he is now 4-0. At 19-21, the Lights find themselves in 4th place in the Cory Lidle League Gene Mauch Division.
Flexing his muscles for Phoenix was the aforementioned Ayliffe. The designated hitter had a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth for the Lights. It put his team ahead, 2-0, and sent them on to victory.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Ayliffe said after the game.
