Spartans Roll to 9-3 Win Over Cornhuskers
|
The Sandy Springs Spartans relied on the hitting of designated hitter Adler Wolfer to stop the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 9-3. For the game, Wolfer went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Sandy Springs reliever Riley Goodall picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Enrico Avalos took the loss. The last-place Spartans improved to 13-20.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Spartans grabbed the lead when Manolo González rapped a two-out single. Sandy Springs was trailing 2-1, when González hit a 2-run single off Enrico Avalos to put his team in front, 3-2.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said González.
