Ninjas Fall Short, 5-4, at Long Island
The Long Island Ducks and New York Ninjas obliged those fans who came to Long Island Stadium hoping for an exciting game.

New York designated hitter Carlos Gamboa had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Gamboa was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, even as Long Island beat the Ninjas, 5-4. Gamboa was named the player of the game despite the loss. Stuart Organ, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 12 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 3-2.

Long Island first baseman Ken Cashmann contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball into left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 29th hit of the season and put the Ducks ahead, 5-4.

Cashmann called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."

The 5th-place Ducks now have a win-loss record of 16-19.
