Marysville right fielder Sakutaro Okada had a good game, even if his team did not. The Monarchs dropped a 6-5 decision to Pacifica at McCormick Field. Okada went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Pacifica reliever Luis Márquez was credited with the win, to go to 1-1. Toshikazu Yokoyama took the loss for Marysville. The Shamrocks, at 21-12, have now won 5 straight.
Josh Bowmer was 1 for 2 with a walk and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs for Pacifica. In a tie game with one out in the bottom of the seventh, Bowmer came through with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It put the Shamrocks in front, 6-5.
Bowmer expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
