DeKalb got a terrific game from center fielder Luis Elías. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Rock River, 7-4. Elías was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Adam Lewis, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 3-1. Getting the save was Kevin Crosby, his 8th.

In the top of the sixth inning, designated hitter Carlos Cordero came through big-time for the Rats. With Rock River leading 3-2, he belted a solo home run.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play ever better," said Rock River manager Hervé Barthélémy.

The Rats improved to a lofty 24-9.
