Gates 'Lights Out' in Wichita Win
|
Howling Park was the site of a exceptional pitchers' duel.
In a well-pitched game between the Wichita Wolverines and the Pacifica Shamrocks, pitcher Dennis Gates was fantastic. The Wichita right-hander was named the player of the game in Wichita's 2-1 win. The save went to Pedro Galló, his 5th this season.
The Wolverines liked what they saw from Gates. The 22-year old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Shamrocks to no earned runs on 3 hits over 6.1 innings, and striking out 10.
Gates said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
With the loss, Pacifica falls to 16-12.
