Victory Pushes Cornhuskers Record to 14-11
|
Jimmy Hunter pitched well, but his team, the Pacifica Shamrocks, still dropped a 3-1 decision to the DeKalb Cornhuskers at McCormick Field. DeKalb reliever Rainer Waldheim picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jimmy Hunter absorbed the loss. The Cornhuskers raised their record to 14-11.
DeKalb took a 3-1 lead on Noriaki Kobayashi's 2nd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Kobayashi hit in the top of the seventh, left Pacifica pitcher Bernard Coste shaking his head.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said DeKalb manager Eduardo Varerla.
