The Pacifica Shamrocks overcame a good performance by Youngstown designated hitter Dane Ridge to knock off Youngstown, 6-5, at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum. Ridge was 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Pacifica improves to 13-9 as they look to defend their championship.

Nobutsugu Yamaguchi found himself in a pressure situation in the top of the eighth. Facing Youngstown hurler Sachi Kakuta, the 21-year-old third baseman hit a sacrifice fly. His 6th RBI of the season put the Shamrocks on top, 6-5.

"If we keep winning the close games," Yamaguchi said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
