Earthquakes Lose to Pioneers, 6-2
Vancouver starter Kenko Samurakami pitched effectively against the San Francisco Earthquakes at The Royal Court at Jersey Yards. The right-hander led his team to a 6-2 win. In 8 innings, Samurakami surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Their 20-14 record puts the Pioneers third in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.

The Pioneers beat the Earthquakes in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out triple Dan Rollins produced in the bottom of the sixth. Batting against San Francisco pitcher Minh-Duc Pamungkas, Rollins gave his team a 4-2 lead when he hit a 2-run triple.
