Spartans Deal Beehive Painful Loss
|
Sandy Springs beat Madison at The Coliseum, escaping with a 9-8 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Tomohiro Harada, who earned player of the game honors. He was 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Tom Polk in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Jonathan Marion took the loss. The Beehive fall to 7-14 and continue to sputter in the early going.
Manolo González was the walk-off hero for Sandy Springs. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Spartans catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Harada said.
