Thrilling Victory Pushes Beetlecats Win Streak to 5
|
The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats faced a tough opponent in Jacksonville pitcher Alberto García, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Bloomfield Road by a final score of 4-3. García went 6.2 innings and allowed no earned runs. Buzzard's Bay reliever Vincent Bethea was the winner. His record is now 5-0. Noriaki Ine took the loss. Mike Salter recorded his 6th save for Buzzard's Bay.
The Beetlecats got a big boost from third baseman Yasuhiro Nishimura who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning off Hellcats hurler Noriaki Ine. It was his 5th RBI of the season and put Buzzard's Bay on top, 4-3.
Jacksonville manager Pete Dellow said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The Beetlecats, now 12-5, have been on fire in the early going.
